Register your Website with Search Engines Print

Although your website might end up being cataloged by one or more search engines over time, it never hurts to be proactive. The two major search engines -- Google  and Bing -- are relatively easy to register with, you just need to incorporate a "meta key" into your website. Here's how.

Search Engines and their consoles

Bing: Bing Webmaster Tools (US)

Google: Google Search Console (US)

Yandex: Yandex Webmaster Tools (Russia)

Eventually, verify your site at DuckDuckGo: If you're using DuckDuckGo as your browser search engine (recommended), you can easily check to ensure your site is registered. In the search bar, simply type "site:yoursitename.com" -- e.g. "site:oip.net" or "site:earthclick.net". According to advice I've read, submitting your site to Yandex will accelerate the process at DuckDuckGo.

Register your website with Google

Visit this website: https://search.google.com/search-console and create an account (free). Then, select "Add Property" in the left column. Select URL Prefix and follow the instructions.

Google will attempt to verify your site. The best way is to use the "HTML Verification" method. This requires you to add a "meta tag' to your website header. First, click to expand the "HTML Tag" section. Click "Copy" to copy the string into your clipboard.

Now, in your website in a new window, navigate to Divi >> Theme Options and click on the Integration tab. Paste the Google string into your header (where it says "Add code to the <head> of your blog," then Save Changes.

Finally, click "verify", and you should get an "OK" message if verification was successful.

Register your website with Bing

First, you have to signup for an account with Bing.com, specifically Webmaster tools. This is probably easier than it seems, but persevere. Once you sign in, you can enter the URL of your website.

If all goes well, you'll see a "verification" page with several options. Select the "meta" option and proceed as you did with the Google verification:

Now, in your website in a new window, navigate to Divi >> Theme Options and click on the Integration tab. Paste the Google string into your header (where it says "Add code to the <head> of your blog," then Save Changes.

Finally, click "verify", and you should get an "OK" message if verification was successful.

That's it!

There are probably more verifications, but these are the essential ones.
