Normally, the Polycom default administrative password is “456”. If something goes sideways, or if someone has reset the administrative password and you don’t know what it is, you can reset it as follows. A couple of notes — this will reset your phone to Factory Defaults, so you’ll need to reconfigure it as well. You might not be able to reset the administrative password to “456”, but we recommend that you set it to something similar, like “4567”.
- Write down the phone’s MAC address. This may be on the phone itself, or you can find it by selecting Status >> Phone (it may say MAC or S/N) from the Home menu.
- Reboot the phone.
- Wait until the Application starts to load. You’ll see a “Cancel” softkey. Press it.
- You have 6 to 8 seconds to do this: press and hold “1” and “3” and “5”
- This will display a screen asking for the password. Enter the Mac Address without colons or spaces
NOTE: You’ll see the mode softkey [ 1-Aa ]. If you press the softkey, it’ll change to A-Aa. When the first character is “1”, the number pad enters a number. When the first character is “A” or “a”, the number pad enters letters that correspond to the ABC or DEF sequence. Press once for A, twice for B, three times for C, and so on. - Once you’ve entered the correct Mac address, press the “OK” or “ENTER” softkey
- The phone will reboot now. If it continues on to the startup screen, the default administrative password should be reset to “456”.
If it comes up to an “Old/New” password screen, you’ll have to pick a New administrative password other than “456” (the software won’t allow you to enter “456” for both old and new passwords, and even if set the administrative password to something else (e.g. “4567”), you can’t repeat the process to reset the new password to “456”.
That should do it.
