A website is simply one or more "pages" of information grouped together under a "domain name". For example, "http://www.earthclick.net" is a website that defines the services that Earthclick.net provides to its customers. Generally, a website performs a specific function - a shopping cart, a company brochure, a directory of Real Estate listings, and so on.

Pricing: website hosting starts at $9.95 per month and go up from there. E-Commerce sites start at $32.50 per month. We have a number of "templates" and "templating systems" that can be bundled with your hosting package at no additional cost:

  • Drupal CMS (see http://www.drupal.org)
  • Wordpress (see http://www.wordpress.org)
  • OS Commerce (see http://www.oscommerce.com)
  • Build your own

Wordpress is likely most used of all CMS systems. Drupal provides a framework for nearly anything you might wish to include on your website (blog, forum, comments, etc.) and has a decent E-Commerce module. OS Commerce is cthe most flexible E-Commerce solution, but it is also the most complicated.   Be prepared to spend time learning any templating system, and if you choose Wordpress, Drupal or OS Commerce, be prepared to spend a significant amount of time learning the system and what it can do for you. You can hire us to help, but our ultimate goal includes enabling you to manage your own website, even a complex one.

Both Drupal and OS Commerce are "open source community supported" applications, which means they are free to use and modify. Wordpress isn't "open source" even though the software is free. There are community (free) and commercial plugins for all of these options.
